Kitchen Porter

We invite applications for full-time opportunity at St. Andrew's College in the role of Kitchen Porter. Cole Dining Hall has seating for up to 320 people and hosts day and boarding students and staff for three meals per day, in addition to special events and receptions.

The primary responsibilities of the Kitchen Porter include:
  • Collecting dishes, utensils and cookware for cleaning
  • Washing dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans, using dishwasher and/or by hand
  • Inspecting dishes and utensils to ensure they meet hygiene and cleanliness standards
  • Organizing and storing clean dishware, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Replenishing supplies of clean dishware and eating utensils
  • Cleaning and sterilizing sinks, dishwashing stations, and dish room
  • Assisting with the unloading and storing of kitchen supplies
  • Restocking beverage dispensers such as juice and milk machines
  • Sweeping and mopping kitchen and dining room floors by arranging furniture as required
  • Removing garbage, compost, and recycling
  • Complying with Health and Safety under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Complying with safe food handling and safe handling of cleaning chemicals (W.H.M.I.S)
 
We seek candidates with the following credentials:
  • Previous experience working in a kitchen environment is required
  • Reliability and flexibility
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and work in a team environment
  • Position requires considerable walking and standing for long periods
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
Scheduled shifts will include evenings and weekends.
