Grade 12 Student Awarded $120,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship
St. Anne’s School is proud to celebrate Onna, who has been named a recipient of the prestigious Schulich Leader Scholarship, one of Canada’s most coveted undergraduate STEM scholarships.
Valued at $120,000 for students entering engineering, the Schulich Leader Scholarship recognizes exceptional students across Canada who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, entrepreneurial thinking, and a passion for innovation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Onna will continue her studies at the University of Waterloo, where she will pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechatronics Engineering. Her pathway reflects a deep interest in the role technology can play in solving real-world problems and improving lives.
“I’m incredibly grateful to be a recipient of this scholarship, which reflects years of learning and perseverance, as well as the support of a community that has inspired me to be curious, ambitious, and driven. I’m excited to explore the intersection of technology and empathy, using innovation to create solutions that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”
Sabrina D’Angelo, Head of School, said Onna’s achievement is a powerful example of what is possible when curiosity, purpose, and perseverance come together.
“We are incredibly proud of Onna and all that she has accomplished,” said Sabrina. “This scholarship is a remarkable recognition of not only her academic excellence, but the person she is. Onna is an exceptional student, athlete, and leader who brings curiosity, determination, and heart to everything she does. She represents what we hope for all St. Anne’s students – young women who pursue excellence, support those around them, and use their talents to make a positive impact. We cannot wait to see all that she will accomplish at the University of Waterloo and beyond.”
