Growing Community

Building Sustainable Relationships

We cultivate a sense of belonging, cooperation, and support within our school by establishing a strong foundation of sisterhood and prioritizing meaningful connections with St. Andrew’s College. Additionally, we actively seek opportunities to forge partnerships with local and global communities, strengthening our ties within and beyond Dunin House.

Creating a Thriving Community

Building Traditions of Belonging & Leadership:

Establish meaningful traditions that foster a deep sense of belonging and align with our mission to empower students to become courageous learners and compassionate citizens. These traditions will connect our students to the values of our school and provide them with opportunities to live and lead with wisdom.

Mission-Aligned Partnerhood:

The Partnerhood between St. Anne’s and St. Andrew’s is more than a collaboration—it is a mission-aligned alliance that strengthens the fabric of our educational communities. By continuously defining, refining, and building this partnership, we create a shared vision that aligns with the vision and values of both schools. This growing community promotes a sense of belonging and purpose, where students and employees are united in their commitment to the holistic development of each student.

Engage Parents & Alumnae:

Cultivate networks of engaged parents and alumnae, fostering strong relationships that enhance our school community through friend-raising and fundraising. Through events, communications, and opportunities for involvement, we create a lasting bond between the school and our families and alumnae, ensuring that our community continues to grow together, creating a powerful network of Cygnets beyond graduation.

Building Meaningful External Partnerships:

Research, identify, and build external partnerships that enrich our students’ learning experiences and help shape them into informed, compassionate, and socially responsible citizens. By connecting with leading organizations, businesses, and community groups, we create opportunities for students to engage with real-world challenges, extending their learning beyond the classroom. Partnerships of this nature bring experts, mentors, and entrepreneurs directly to our students, broadening their perspectives on global issues, local communities, and diverse industries. Additionally, through community giving programs and experiential activities, students will apply their knowledge in practical settings, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and cultivate a sense of empathy and civic responsibility.

Enrolment for Long-Term Success:

Develop a framework for enrolment that aligns with our mission, ensuring every student we welcome shares our vision, mission, and values and can contribute to our school community. Admitting students who display a commitment to their academics, show interest in extra-curricular activities, and endeavour to become strong female leaders will help position the school and its students for long-term success.

Tactics

  • Strengthen and support the relationship with the existing Parents Guild Executive. Foster open communication, collaboration, and shared initiatives to ensure parents are actively involved in the school community and play a meaningful role in enhancing the student and family experience.
  • Refine existing traditions to create belonging and support the mission of the school: graduation, Grade 8 Trip, End-of-Year Cygnets Ceremony, Homecoming and/or Community Day, Cygnets Holiday Cheer, Gratitude Circle, Fall Flight, and athletic days.
  • Develop a targeted communication strategy to increase awareness of community service opportunities for Upper School students, ensuring they have the resources needed to fulfill the 40-hour community service requirement for graduation.
